As Shaggy, I'm too on temp position in IT dept i one of tv production companies in London...

After one week, I am richer for one experience - never trust the user - always check on him twice, because he will for sure leave extra-very-strongly-urgently needed files somewhere on local hdd, instead on shared one.. His luck - I didnt formatted drive yet ...

    Ok, back to basics..

Monday - lots of questions from me, understandable, I think...
Couple lost files recovery from backup done before fileservers crash couple weeks ago - 6 tickets and one reinstall of windows...
Tuesday - booooriiinggg... nothing to do, no new tickets......6h of waiting for something to do... even boss ordered "wait for tickets"..
Wednesday - let's rock and roll baby... couple of PC to check, update and change, I love MS Update... busiest day in a week... over 6,5 hours of constant uninterrupted work..
Thursday - swapping 2000 for Xp, done by changing whole PC's, not a big problem cause almost all files are on share drives, some files recovery...
Friday - Installing XP instead of 2000 on PC that was changed thru the week - earlier ofkors data backup from profiles and not only, those users..
At the end of day great news: I'm staying for next week or even more..

After a week I can say - experience gain is slower than expected, probably because of highly organized and tidy environment, there's no rush, few tickets for a day, no shouting, great people....
Almost every conversation somewhere inside has the "no worries", "good job" or "well done", - I'm in IT heaven :) , we'll see next week..
One hour of travel, only one tube line to get there, great social conditions, free coffee, tea, milk, washing machines - I really can't find anything negative :)

Glad you’re enjoying it. Sounds like a positive place to gain technical experience (while staying away from politics). 8)

I suspect dish-washers. We have those in our kitchens as well.

They don't work very well, but I suspect this is because untrained people are loading them.

Heh, yeah, dish washing machines :) Told you to correct my english :)

I'm seriously think to stay there as long as they will be wanting me, despite fact it's temp ...

Money - for me it's perfectly tuned - enough to send some to my wife, for my current expences, and to leave something for future job search :)

trybar, the experience will do you no harm.
Write down what you do each day/week as it's always good to remember what you have done for future reference & of course to remind yourself what experience you have gained.
