…what do you do with them?

Just been ordering some more books from Amazon and just thought that I am running short of space in my home office. Don’t think I want to bin any of them but can’t keep going forever!

What about everyone else? Ebay? Take them into work? Bin ‘em!??! :biggrin

Cert books I sell or give away to newer techs
reference books I keep unless the tech is done, or I have a new edition or something, then I bin em, recycle em, sell em, whatever is easiest at the time :)
with me using Safari for most things, i dont tend to have much on my book shelf :)

Ah thats a tough one! Some old books are all but worthless while others I still use today. I've got a batch file book thats ancient that I used just today to help me finish a little number to check the version of something installed on workstations.

I'd go through em and give the ones that I know I'll never use to charity, NT4, dos, Office 97 etc but keep the ones that I might use like Batch files, 2003+.

I'd give Server 2000 books away myself, what do you reckon?

    Don't bin any tho!

Into the paper recycle box they go, about 30 manuals went that way about 4 weeks ago, windows 2k stuff, old cisco manuals from the BCRAN/CIT days. The interweb is the future, I am going to bag myself a kindle shortly.

Urgh us too mate, damn PC-Duo I have to use to check those 4GB HD mother lickers out! I hate em ha ha I'm probably just being a snob because I only ever did one 2000 course and only ever 2003 exams :)

While I'm on tho, 2003, I think you can't beat it. 2008 doesn't float my boat at all, infact in our place, even the admins couldn't turn off UAC for months until we all kicked off!

They are superb mate, all your work books, a bit cheaper but IT books are still the dearest even on Kindle, plus you can throw the odd cheeky fiction number on but the best thing by far is the battery life, a month without charge WTF!

The one thing that has kept me from buying it is that truth be told I do like the feel of a book, but I must move with the times I suppose and plus you can't batter some one half as well with a kindle as you can with a good sturdy CCNP Route manual.

Well this is it, who needs pepper spray when theres an MS Press Book or Cisco manual in your bag! Seriously tho real books are great but its the way you can have hundreds of books on you in the one device but more than that, you can be told about a book by a friend and be reading it 2 minutes later that impresses me.

I was dubious that perhaps the screen would hurt my eyes but its designed not too and I can read it for hours. I was totally fleeced on the case tho! The £50 job with the light. Theres much nicer cases out there but only this one with an LED that feeds off the kindle. 3G model ofcourse should I want to go to BBC News on the train or buy a book

It is quite hard to bin your books, but what we should do, i really feel bad when i have to give my books to bin. But now a days everyday a new update is available and the old books are not revised by their own, so we have to switch to the latest editions.
