    Hi All,

I've kind of found out that office 2011 , well outlook 2011 doesnt support Exchange 2003.
Somthing to do with RPC over HTTP, I think this is balls though, but need to confirm.
Has anyone had similar experiences ? or any solid confirmation

    Thanks,

    Zainek

    Hi Zainek

Yep its true, and without updating the client neither does Entourage 2008.

Mail does though, which I find frankly bizzare.

Afaik from reading the other day, and please throw sources at me to prove wrong but Outlook over RPC has never been supported on Office for Mac (since 2000)

Exchange 2003 compatibility has been removed but Exchange 2010 is now supported, as is 2007 due to Outlook 2011 using only EWS (Exchange Web Services) for access.

And thats the exent of my limited knowledge of it.

Really? I have a few customers who connect with their Macs with Entourage.

It needed to be a pro version (or whatever it is) as the standard version does not have Exchange as a mail type, only the usual POP3\IMAP stuff.

Exchange normally yes Sparky, if your internally on the same network, or VPN'd in, but Outlook over RPC (over https) is a different kettle of fish, it provides full Outlook/Exchange functionality vs WebDAV which is limited in its options (don't know enough about the differences to specify further I'm afraid)

Looks like Entourage 2004 supports a limited feature set using WebDAV: http://entourage.mvps.org/exchange/exchangeathome.html - some mention of 2008 supporting this as well.

    More Entourage / WebDAV info/setup: http://wintivity.wigital.net/blog/2008/07/23/mac-entourage-2008-rpc-http-uses-webdav-to-exchange/
