    Sorry if my answer was OTT I was just trying to say that in the real world K usually indicates 1000 but for computers it usually indicates 1024 because computers use binary.

    Jakamoko As for RFCs don't worry too much. The main one you'll come across is 1542 compliant routers and I'm sure it will be well drilled in by the time you come across a question in an exam.
