I think we are going down the right road on this thought.

Is there any easy way of changing/renaming a domain name on the internal network without having to set it up from scratch??

I'm afraid not Derek, if it was a 2003 domain you could but with 2000 it's tear it down and build it again.

Thought as much Phil, I've been thinking about reinstalling the server for a while now so now might be a good as time as any, Also I think the problem may be that there is a domain name on the internet that is the same name as my home domain, could this be cause the problem??

    Thanks

If the PC has internet access at the time you are trying to join the domain it sounds like that is more than likely the problem.
