Is there any application out (floppy or cd based) there that can be used to confirm all hardware is working fine, when there is no operating system installed? Live cd's are fine, but im looking for another sort where it does not take so long.

A friend of a friend of a friend, says that he is getting about 20 computers from an auction for his business, but has no way of verifying it to be working, as he wont have enough time to load the live cds on all of the computers.

Post beeps are just not enough i think.

    Hope this makes sense...

PC-Check from Eurosoft will do exactly that : http://www.eurosoft-uk.com/pc_check.htm

It boots with it's own o/s (effectively DOS) to a menu where you can select which components to check.

You may also want to read thru' Arro's thread http://www.certforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=29221&highlight=soak+test about soak test software as most of the stuff mentioned there will also check components for you.

The Micro2000 stuff is quite good tho it can be a bit overpriced. Also, when I enquired about it some years back they started constantly phoning with a sales pitch that equalled some TP's !

I quite liked the microscope product although my copy is a good few years now, pccheck has a fairly quick ram test whilst microscopes takes ages....... and microscope is very expensive.

When I've used pc check you could line up your pc's set the diags running and remove the floppy and start on the next one.
