Hi there,

Yet another newbie introducing themselves.
I must say how glad I am that I found these forums, I've learnt tons more from this than anything else.

I am pretty new to IT (currently a support analyst) at an oldish age(!) having stupidly put off making the jump for many years and then finally doing it at the worst possible time (financially), i.e. wife who'd given up work to look after toddler with another on the way...with the attitude that, well if I don't do it now I may never!

Anyway 6-8 months of trying, with no qualifications or experience other than a passion to do the job, I finally got one. I had to take a 25/30% paycut which was a little painful but the plusses outweigh it - a local job so no more commuting to central london, enjoy it immensely and I have already had a pay increase with another to come in Jan.

Enough about me - I guess the moral of this story is if you want to do it just go for it...

PS I have loads of questions for the MCSE people but I'll leave those for another time

I think it was sheer persistence and maybe the fact I totally changed the style of my covering letter...
