Just saying hey as I’ve just register with this site which I’m hopping will give me some good reference and support for the courses I’ve just started (A+, Network+ & MCSE). Went with the skillstrain route (have read a few posts about the company on here but so far I've found them pretty good!)

As said currently tackling the A+, not too taxing so far, currently work as an IT engineer where I solely manage and administer our Win 2003 server and 14 win2K client machines. Basically I’m looking to gain the certifications and move into a higher paid job as currently I’m nowhere near the average IT wage and don't have any IT qualifications on my CV except a GNVQ.

Anyway that's the intorduction, just a few quick question:

    1. I've heard the MCSE is being phased out for the MCT? Will my MCSE still be relevant when I come to starting it in over a year’s time?
    2. Apparently skillstrain have updated A+ material, what’s an easy way of telling if mine is the most current?
    3. Would the A+ exams come at the end after all the assignment work is done? Is it just 1 exam?

Cheers, and no doubt will speak throughout the term!
    Adam

    Hi Welcome

Not sure about your first question, you may have to do an upgrade exam

To your second question if your material follows compTIAs 2006 A+ objectives then yes it is up to date, visit comptia.org to check them out.

The A+ is two exams you have a mandatory exam called essentials 220-601 and then you choose 1 other out of three most people do 220-602 IT technican exam.

As for when you will take it, have skillstrain not told you when you will take it I would have thought that to be quite importants so you could prepare.

    Greetings, Adam. Welcome to CertForums.

For all the official information about Microsoft certifications, try going to their website:

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/default.mspx

Short answer to your first question is that your certs will be valid for the technology they represent (Windows Server 2003, etc...) Also, "MCT" means "Microsoft Certified Trainer". You likely mean MCTS. Here's more info:

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcts/default.mspx

Hope you find our little forum helpful in your pursuits. Cheers.

    Cheers,
I've looked into it now and apparently I have to apply for the exam after I submitt my last assignment.

Yeh, my mistake, it was the MC Technology Specialist I was referring too.

What they said. Once an MCSE, always an MCSE... and it'll be valuable for years to come.
