Hi, I have never taken an exam for certification before. I have been self training myself for the 70-270 windows xp pro exam and I am ready to take it. How and where can I sit the exam? I live in the North East of England, Sunderland.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

All Microsoft exams are arranged by either Prometric or VUE.

You can search for the nearest location to you and book the exam by using their global web sites...

So when sitting the 70-270 MCSE exam is it paper or computer based?

I have been using learnkey training videos and mock tests and feel I am ready for the exam, is it similar to the mock tests from this training software? Multiple choice and multiple answer?

Are there any ability questions where you have to complete a procedure or is it all straight forward question answer?

    Thanks,

    John

oh and can anyone recommend a book (the best?? lol) for 70-270? I hear the Sybex range are good. I have a Sybex Server 2003 book but don't plan to read it yet.

John, all of the Microsoft exams are computer based. They generally follow the multiple choice type of questioning although a few sim (simulation) questions are popping up in exams now, which is a good thing IMHO. Microsoft multiple choice questions are not always as easy as you would think. You have to chose all the available correct answers and sometimes some of the choices are very vague to say the least

I would recommend the related Transcender as a means for testing your readiness and to get a good idea of what the exam engine is like. The Transcender is not exactly the same but it is close enough to get a feel for the real thing. Of course the questions are different to the actual questions but they do help to identify any weak areas you may have.

If you visit the Transcender site Transcender - free demo page << Clickable link

You can download a demo of the 70-270 exam for free, there is usually about ten questions and they will help you understand what you are going to be facing and you can decide later if you want to purchase the full product.
