I am considering taking up the Security+ Cert for my next challenge.

But reading about I noticed it is planned to be updated in May 2011, I hadn't planned on starting to prepare for the exam for a couple of months. Now I think it might be a case of find another suitable security cert or a different area of study for this year.

"CompTIA has released the exam objectives for CompTIA Security+ SY0-301, which is now in development. The new exam is scheduled to launch in May 2011."

Any thought on this?? Will the current study guides be a waste ?

Bob, the current Security+ exam doesn't retire until December 31 of this year. You have plenty of time to use the study materials you have and take the current exam.
