    Hey guys,

I started a new job yesterday working for CSC at Berkeley Nuclear site.

I found out I'd got the job about 6 weeks ago, but I had to get BPSS security clearance. I was told the clearance would take a maximum of 2 weeks, but obviously that was a little ambitious.

I was a bit unsure before I arrived because I'd been offered the position without interview so hadn't seen the site before or met anyone i'd be working with, but they seem like a nice bunch of guys so far.

I finished a course with JBC in Coventry at the end of March, who had sent my CV to the agency that offered me the job.

I don't have any certifications so I guess certs aren't everything, there's some luck involved too!

Congrats on the new job. You did not say what the position entails i.e. helpdesk, 1st line or network support. Just curious:biggrin

Well I guess you would call it 2nd line support. I'm part of a team of 4 that deals with calls referred to us by the helpdesk. Most of the calls involve visiting users at their desk and either fixing the problem there, or swapping the machine out.

The Berkeley site currently has around 800 users.

Sounds like more of a desktop sort of role.

And there are 4 of you for 800 users?

I think you should prepare to be kept busy :)
