    Thanks guys!

The job is supporting SME. They are partners with Vmware, Cisco, Microsoft, Dell, Citrix and a few others.

One of the things that sold it to me was the fact they give you 10 days each year (in my contract!) with a well known training provider and you can do courses in anything they partner. So I'm thinking CCNA and VCP as well :D

After the intial period of proving myself, I will then have the opportunity to work on projects, installs, migrations, field work etc.

I'm excited and I feel it gives me the opportunity to have exposure to lots of different technologies with a company that invests in you. I can then decide at some point in the future, which area to specialise in.

    Thanks mate.

I'm thinking more a specialisation at some point rather than management (again), need to experience alot more stuff before I make my final choice.

    You think?

Try getting a Technical Architect or Senior Engineer role... :)

Actually - that's not true at the moment. I know I'm probably going to regret this (tempting fate and all that) but I still see quite a few senior roles come up in my inbox at the moment - especially in the Storage Architect/Virtualisation areas. Certainly get more of those than third line at present, so maybe you're right JK!

Congrats Craigie - nice to hear a success story on here for once!

Would be very useful to know, so am looking forward to it. :) I'm actually following your MCSE exam order quite closely myself (70-284 can sod off though, 70-270 is the one for me :))

It's always nice to see others doing well after such hard work.

I agree with JK on this. Some of the “Senior” and “Architect” peers are seriously lacking knowledge and common sense. It’s disappointing to see. On the other hand, the 3rd line support isn’t much better in common sense either… (at least they have technical knowledge :) )
