Hi Guys.

Just a quick post to let you know, I finally bit the bullet, left my Web Development job I was hating so much (crap bosses) and started my MSc in Advanced Computing in earnest today.

Jumped head first into Object Orientated Java and Oracle Databasing which is cool. Also found out my Department is part of the Oracle Academy, so I have a fast track (and discount) towards the oracle certs when I finish both modules w00t.

Ahhhh to be learning again, expect to see alot of me now I'm not pulling 16 hour days on insane php/asp and database dev projects

Glad to hear your doing what you enjoy doing most. I hope you have enough money saved to substain you and keep the bills paid?

 

hehe. I have a good wife, a small business and a few web dev freelance jobs coming in so I should be ok. Besides, I'm only in classes from now until May, the have until September to finish the dissertation, so plenty of time them for job hunting and fitting in a few more certs.

Whats more I now have collectively a few years IT experience, a BSc and soon an MSc, so hopefully the future will be brighter.

God it feels good to be back

It's all Looking good. I knew there was a large Database element involve, and coming from a web dev background I'm pretty good at MySQL and mssql, But I had no idea that it was part of the Oracle academy, so thats a real bonus!!
