Just been to see the new bond tonight, and i must say i think that Daniel craig is the best bond since Connery, and maybe even in some repects better!!!!!! awesome film

Really? I heard the film was lacking in gadgets, women and humor. Stuff the old bond films were made of?:biggrin

I haven't seenit yet, but have seen 4 doc's and 2 trailers of the film. Not sure what to make of it?

Some say Daniel craig is trying to be Jason Statham from transporter, similar to Timothy Dalton, is very serious, with no humour?:dry

Has anyone else seen the film yet?:blink

    I saw it, it rocked
    told my boss it rocked
    he saw it
    he thought it rocked
    his wife thought it rocked

casino royale wasnt furnished with lavish gadgets the first time, so why would it the second time?

I suggest you all see it for yourself and not worry about what know it all critics think, make your own minds up!

I remember David Niven in the first one and it was really funny especially the bit at the end with the cowboys and indians. The grouse shooting and the fact everybody was named James Bond - well it was a spoof. Is this a spoof or is it a more accurate depiction of the first book?

Have to disagree, Daniel Craig is a brilliant Bond. Don't think there is anyone out there better.

It as lacking in gadgets, but thats a good thing and the car was *drool* AM DBS. There is little humour but the little bit there is is great 'Now the whole world will know you scratched my balls before you died!' One of the best movies i've seen (and I've seen LOADS).

That's why it was a dying franchise, Die Another Day was pants. Read the books, they are completely devoid of gadgets as well. The films are (for the most part) so unlike the books that at least two films had novelisations written of them even though they were already based on books :blink.

Craig is excellent I agree. I was a bit sceptical about him until I saw Layer Cake and after that I could totally imagine him as Bond.

I like Dalton as well. IMO, his portrayal of Bond was the most faithful to the books since Connery in Dr. No. Some of the later Connery films were too much like the Roger Moore films, all sexual innuendos and jokes.

Did anyone read the 'new' Bond books by John Gardner?

I never got into the originals, but the new ones were excellent - much more down to earth, less 'man with own spacestation' kind of thing.

He wrote about 8 I think...
Got them in the loft somewhere - the pages are starting to fall out!

No, never read them. Charlie Higson's Young Bond series is meant to be pretty good as well.

I read the John Gardner books and really enjoyed them. There was another author writing the Bond books, Raymon Benson and he was OK as well.

He gets married in On Her Majesty's Secret Service! That's one of the most underrated Bond films IMO.

It was a good film, I thought Craig would be a great Bond after seeing Layer Cake where he plays the main character (Without a name!).

He didnt disappoint but the film was very different to any other 007 I've seen! The new era begins!
