    Hello...

Have just signed up to this forum and have left a 'hello' message in the new members section..8)

I currently have a MCP 70-290 under my belt, however Networking is the area that i would like to be involed in alot more.

So, i was thinking of taking the CompTia N+ exam first and then build up to taking the relevant Cisco exams (CCNA etc)

Am i on the right track to begin to specialise in the networking field? Any other pointers people may have i am open to suggestions / comments.

    Thanks in advance

    Dan

IMO, the Network+ is one of the best entry level vendor-neutral networking cert. It teaches you the basic to build on for higher/more indepth certs/exams like Cisco or MS's 70-291 :)

    Thanks for the advice.

I had a look over the 70-291 but all of the custom subnetting looked alot to take in. I have the 70-290 so was going to do home study for the network + exam.

One other thing you may be able to help me with, is the latest Network + exam the 2009 one? Reason being is on the CompTia website there seems to be two different ones?

Depends... what's your current IT experience level? What do you currently do in IT?

Yep, the new Network+ was just released. The old Network+ will be available until midway through 2009 (can't remember if it is end-June or end-July).
