    Hi Guys,
i'm looking to purchase a copper network tap (10/100 or 10/100/1000) ideally or a switch that will let me send RX/TX traffic to 3 further interfaces. I would prefer a tap as they typically fail-to-wire and therefore not a point of failure.

I was surprised that i couldn't find anywhere online to buy a Tap from and I am looking to spend as little as possible (<£100), If required i would consider a gigabit network switch with port mirroring (Span) functionality but the product descriptions don't specify how many span/mirror ports are supported.

does anyone have any experience of anything and can make some recommendations?

Any Cisco Catalyst off eBay should be enough to do that

But there are limitations on the amount of spans supported on the catalyst range though, right?

Yes, correct. How many do you need?

To give you an idea, my 100 euro 3550 supports two span-sessions

Blackbox do indeed, unfortunately they are coming in at a much higher price than £100 :(

Visit that well known online auction site and search for:
Black Box 10/100 Copper Tap tap splitter TS230A-R2

There is someone in the USA selling one for less than your £100 budget including Postage. (You may need to swap the USA Power adapter)

    Good luck.
