    Hey all!

Just had to do something with my 50 minutes before I went to my Drumline tryouts. Soooooooooo nervous. I mean, I'm as prepared as I'm ganna be for this second in time, but still, I wish I was better at snare. *sigh* Oh well. The guy who is trying us out is a bit scary. I hope he doesn't wear his army fatigues today. *shudder* even scarier. Well I just need to rant. Thanks for letting me. Wish me luck!

Good luck for the tryouts. Just keep thinking that you're not alone with being nervous. All the other people that are also there are just as nervous. :thumbleft

Could be wrong but I think it has something to do with the school band.

    Hey All!!

I did VERY well at my auditions. The Drumline instructers and my band director were very pleased with me. They said I have a very good chance at playing snare.
Okay, a little explaining. THe thing my dad posted was pretty accurate, but it doesn't really tell you why I want to be on the snareline so badly. Cymbalists a generally people who couldn't quite make it on a drum. Bass drums are people who could play patterns well, but not quite snare quality. Tenor (or quads or quints... depends on how many drums they have) is a really fun instrument. It is hard and some can argue it is harder than snare. But if you play snare, you are generally considered one of the better players in a drums. You have to know your patterns REALLY well, your rudiments even better, and you have to be able to play things really fast.
I'm not saying I'm all that, but I'm going to practice very hard so I can be all that and not let my instructors down.

    Thanks to all who responded!

Complete and total respect to that, TNT. In the time I've gigged around in bands, I've always been more than impressed with a really good drummer. They get stick for "hanging around with musicians" (great gag ! :biggrin ) but a good one makes ALL the difference.

Good luck to you - now BEAT IT !!!!! :biggrin
