Hi just started to home study Comptia A+ and have very little experience.I saw a few posts and as wondering what this mike myers book is called.
As it sounds like it would help me wiv my studies. Im doing ok so far but every little helps.
Should introduce myself really I'm thirty wiv a ten year old son and have decided waiting hand and foot on strangers for minimum wage is not getting me anywhere. I have taken the very scarey leap back into education
into a feild that im interested in but know very little about. I MUST BE NUTZ!!! lol

I see your from oz. One of the reasons i have decided to get into IT is so i may be able to move there as i'll have a trade as such. If u don't mind me asking what is the job market like out there? are the qualifications the same?. I know another brit wanting to move to oz but seriously, its such a beautiful country and having arthritis the weathers a big plus.

any info would be great thanx !!

Ok Sam well, the CompTIA A+ is recognised here, so that is a big bonus.. Also the common certs like Microsoft and Cisco etc are recognised here too. Be careful though because not all qualifications that are common in the UK are worth something, for example, City and Guilds means nothing to the Australian recruiters.

I can't really comment on the job market because it depends where you are and what experience coupled with certifications you have. Bear in mind that certs alone will not get you a job, other than an entry level job, such as a help desk role etc.. There is no shortcut into the really rewarding jobs in IT. Like all professions, you have to start at the bottom and work your way up the ladder. Experience will trump certs every time.

Good luck, the road to Oz is a long and tough one but the final destination is worth the grief and expense in the long run.
