I've lost count of the weeks but its something like 7 weeks of being a non-smoker for me now.

I quit for about 1.5 years and (coincidentally) started smoking again on my honeymoon! Was probably back to smoking for about 4 months after that and then i quit again this year, quite confident b/c my quitting reason has changed, before it was a money/health thing, now its 100% b/c i have a baby daughter, done it for her this time so not a chance i'll be going back.

I quit smoking around 5 years ago, when I finally got a good reason to (started dating Martin and he's a non-smoker, didn't want to put him off with my nicotine breath).

I was mainly the social smoker type - having a laugh with the lads, or at work when I got stressed to high hell.

Nowadays I go to the gym and do weights or jog :biggrin

It hit me twice - first, two weeks after quitting, and then when I had the first drink. But was massively worth it obviously!

My more recent struggle is with going teetotal. I must admit, the health and financial benefits of quitting my binge drinking have been massive.

I missed them for a minute JK. I'm actually a non smoker. Even smoking is better than the fiends you lot are in Liverpool. Sat in your scouse hovels, crack piping it away, dreaming about how at some point, some band came from Liverpool, made it big and then left. :biggrin Sexual magnetism? I thought scousers were under the impression that it's "Surprise Sex" ??

And the blue pills do not work sadly, It's the prostate massage that does it for me...

    j/k

    Smoking rocks!!

Nothing Like a good old fashioned tab to start the day!!! Finger licking good !!

Before you all lay into me, I quit ages ago, but the thought of never smoking again is depressing, still never mind more money to spend on smack and rocks!!

Did try a drag or two when I was uneducated (about 12/13) but never have since - I completely agree, mug's game.

I always say that it costs the NHS more in supporting smokers than the tax it brings in, that of course always gets negated by those who do smoke - so rock on smokers, keep it going, helps pay for any treatment I'll ever need - cheers!

Stopped a month ago, somebody said its supposed to get easier, it hasn't!! I must admit though that i really notice now when my colleague has been out for a puff, he stinks!! Hate to think that i used to smell like that after going for a fly tab before going to see a user! Acid test next weekend, first time i'll have had a bevvy since stopping. Have deliberatly not drunk a thing since i stopped as i knew that will power would go out the window (not that i drink much like!!):p

Exactamundo dude. It's like an intolerence thing, it's not right to be intolerant of someones creed or colour etc but if you smoke then your a legitemate target. Well that's how it seems to me.

Just watch the death camp of intolerance episode of southpark and you will see atleast one part that is so true to life, apart from the lazy mexican :D

Which is a good point, if that is true and it does cost more to support smokers, then why not just ban sales of cigarettes and force people to quit. Smoking serves no benefit to anyone, anywhere.

Yep. I'm intolerant of it. It f**ken stinks, and is as anti-social as me walking down the street shouting in your ear. Of course, I could walk down the street shouting in your ear, but as I know it would irritate you, I wouldn't. What's the difference? Actually - to answer my own question, there is a difference. To my knowledge, thirty years of exposure to me shouting in your ear wouldn't kill you. Thirty years' exposure to you smoking would. So, if you want to smoke - great. Just don't whinge when everyone else who doesn't smoke gets the arsehole with you f***ing off outside for unpaid breaks five times a day at fifteen minutes a pop, or bans it in pubs because they don't want to come home stinking of stale fag smoke.

Being intolerant of other peoples' religions or race is ridiculously incomparable to being 'intolerant' of smoking.
