    Hi Nerds and Nerdesses,

    1) What do you think is the best Sci-Fi film ever??

    and

    2) What Sci-fi film do you think is underrated/over looked etc??

    1) Aliens hands down best Sci-Fi Film Ever, that bit where they can't use guns and Vasquez says "lets rock!!!" love it!

    2) Dark City is just a great idea and really different yet when you mention it hardly anyones seems to have watched it!

    That's tough.

    1) Star Wars episode IV - OK, it wasn't the best of the bunch, maybe didn't have the best plot or SFX but it was absolutely iconic and for a LONG time nothing else came close. There are plenty of 'better' films out there, but for its day the vision in Star Wars was amazing. Otherwise I'd say The Matrix. Great story and amazing SFX.

    2) Ooh, I could go on for ages here. Probably The Island. Maybe Silent Running or Outland. There have been some great Sci Fi films that had a really good atmosphere or story despite being pretty low budget with some shoddy acting. That always helped to make it more 'real' somehow.

Best i would be stuck between Bladerunner and Aliens, i'd probably have to go for Bladerunner (voice over version) as being slightly more iconic. I have to say i've got models from both films, a resin Deckard adn an full size facehugger!

Most underated? hmm Mars Attacks for its comedy, but probably silent running for its message and Heuy, Lewy and dewy!

To be honest I forgot Silent Running existed until reading this, great film. I just remembered some other films I loved as a kid like Battle Beyond The Stars, The Black Hole, The Last Star Fighter and of course DUNE! All probably dodgy now and I've already given my answers so I'll go shush now :biggrin

The sequels were not as engaging. I just liked the dark concept of a clandestine government conspiracy.

Difficult one, not sure I can put a pin in it
I don't go too old school, despite enjoying most of them

Event Horizon is probably one of my faves
Cube is deffo pretty underrated (then again so was EH)
