    Hi Mal
just come across your N+ blog. Is this what they call generic troubleshooting prcedure?

    1) SYMPTOM-Establish the symptoms,obviously!!

2)AREA-Establish the area affected, is it a local issue or a wider reaching issue?

3)CHANGE-Establish what has changed since the last good working state.

    4)PROBABLE-Identify the probable cause.

5)IMPLEMENT-Implement your plan of action, the proposed solution.

6)TEST-Test the results of the implemented plan.

7)EFFECT-Examine and document the effects of the implemented plan.

    8 )DOCUMENT-Document the final results.

Now repeat the buzzwords, go on!:)

That is CompTia's interpretation of structured troubleshooting really, they will expect you to know and understand these processes and be able to identify them from a given scenario, a 'what comes next?' type question. I hope the blog helps, it certainly helped me, but then it would huh?:p

There needs to be a correction in your blog

SPX = Transport (This is like TCP in TCP/IP *Connection Oriantated*)
IPX = Network (IPX is like IP in TCP/IP *Connectionless*)

You put all these into the Transport layer and that's not right, sorry. But apart from that thanks for sharing the info dude.

    Cheers

Well thank you immensely for your kind comments all..8).

There are a few mistakes in there, they're not deliberate but as i completed each objective I wrote my understanding of them in each blog entry. Finding and correcting those errors show you have a competence and understanding of your materials for N+ so by all means hunt them down and correct them as necessary. As for other blogs, well I'm about to start on the Security+ trail and will be putting together the same sort of thing as I go along. If these blogs help just one individual to pass a CompTIA exam then I will be an extremely happy bunny!

Writing down information that you have studied and absorbed is a terrific way of retaining all those facts, figures, tables and theories, it helped me endlessly. Whatever cert you are sitting I wish you all the best and will help whenever I can, as will any CF member here. Good luck, study hard and keep your chin up folks...
