    Arruffel,

Question: According to the AMD webby, the Opteron 146 is clocked at 2GHz. Are you saying you've overclocked a CPU and got a whole extra 1GHz out of it - in which case that's some serious cooling you've got going on - or is that the AMD "Intel equivalent figure" - which I thought they'd stopped doing?

    2 Things -

Don't get that, get a Socket 939 Opteron 165 instead as it's dual core and will clock high.

Baba O'Riley - That is right.

The Socket 939 Opterons are special as they are chips that weren't quite good enough to be FX-57's so they rebaged them as Opteron 146's etc...

All Opteron 146's do around 2.6/2.7ghz on stock voltage.

    Stock volts is 1.4v.

Most can reach 3ghz on about 1.55v like mine.

My temps are 38 degrees idle and 47 load (when playing heavy duty games)

says it all then dont it mate? I am still using an Athlon 2500 which has been overclocked to 3200 and that has max temp of 41 when being heavily used...and 38 when idle...I am hoping to get a new machine built sometime this year...with an X2 AMD CPU and some serious SLi PCI-X graphics...now they do come with 2 DVI ports each dont they? hmmm 4 19" screens...oh yeah baby...:D
