After messing about building PCs for last year or so I built one for someone's son. What I wasn't aware of that the Father of the son owned his own IT support and Networking solutions company.

His Father is now my boss although I am still doing my other job at the same time.

I'm now have the title of hardware engineer :)

My job basically involves building server racks, installing all the switches and cabling it all up and installing workstations.

seems pretty cool so far, I have been doing it sice just before crimbo.

    Allegedly it is.

Yep seem quite cool, have been doing a load of remote stuff although writing scripts n stuff reminds me of programming which really annoys me.

only thing is I am doing my old job still 3 nights a week and doing my new job 4/5 days a week, I might end up hitting a wall of tiredness at some point. Doing 60 odd hours a week might get to me in the end.

It can be done, I'm sure you'll be fine. The work needs to be enjoyable. It helps if the people you interact with are a good bunch as well.

Yep, everyone seems fine although I actually like building and upgrading stuff where I am on my own just so I can get on with things.

Thermal paste gets a bit over powering after you build 5 systems a day though.

Had a weird experience the other day, I had to figure out what was wrong with a cutsomers server (was one built for him by someone) to my suprise I found out it was being powered by the worst make of power supply you can get ' the dreaded rosewill ' it took all about 1 second to realise that that was the problem.:D
