    Hi All

Just wondering if anyone here has used/ is familiar MS Virtual PC. I'm probly gonna go with VM ware, but MS are offering a 45 day free trial, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

    Thanks

I have, i didnt really find it as powerful or well supported as VMWare (for instance XFree86 has a 'VMWare driver' so i tend to stick with VMWare
but you might as well use the trial and see how you feel :)

Virtual PC is cheaper but does not support as wide a variety of guest OSes. VMWare is still king.

I think both VMWare and Virtual PC have trial versions so why not experiment with both of them and see which you prefer.

From a colleague who has converted from VMWare to Virtual PC I get the impression that Virtual PC is a little easier on computer resources but VMWare does have better hardware support.

I would't knock Virtual PC for OS support just let because I've seen a few versions of Linux running quite happily on VPC.

Also it might be worth signing up for the Virtual PC 2005 beta providing your host OS is XP or Windows 2003.
