As some of my Twitter/Facebook folks will already know, next weekend I move from little ole Boise (where I have been since 200 to the tiny city of Seattle (actually, I'll be living in the City of Redmond, and working all over the Seattle metro area) for a new job as a Senior Datacenter architect at a small newly formed practice, this is a great opportunity for me to get back to my roots (storage and virtualization) and help lead and influence the direction of a team that is growing pretty quickly to be one of the go to DC consulting partners in the region
I'm looking forward to refreshing my EMC and VMWare skills, learning some new UCS and Nexus skills, and bringing more MS business to the table to round it all out

So, adding to the four MCITPs I got this year, I now need to get an EMCIE, a VCAP or two and some Cisco UCS partner certs ;)

If anyone ever makes it to Seattle or Redmond, look me up, I'm sure we can hit up the MS company store!

I might be visiting Seattle/Redmond again in February for the next TechReady, and will certainly hit up the MS Store during my stay as usual

 

nah, and its not even a full managed partner yet so i lose my VTSP status and my badge :/
oh well, something for me to work on even if I make MVP next year

Well I have not moved yet, so it's never too late
signed my lease the other day, cancelled my utilities, and starting to empty out the apartment
ill be keeping most my stuff in Boise for the time being as this has been too short notice for me to sort anything out
TV, Comp, Xbox, and clothes are about all thats moving to start

Well I know its normally a customary three day report, but you really wouldn't have had much
my last month at the new place has been INSANE! lol
My first day on the job I had client meetings in downtown Seattle with our sales manager, good to get in front of him although I was perhaps a little apprehensive of the meeting with me being so green to the company

My second week we were hosting our annual conference attended by more than 400 customers, we had the EMC CIO and Palo Alto founder/CEO speaking at our event, as long as other industry heavyweights so it was all hands on deck to help make this happen, and our team were manning our own EMC labs that we threw together in about a week due to some complications, very impressive feat

I also had an RFP response to turn around that first two weeks, for a Canadian company which we ended up winning, so i'm definitely off to a good start and inspiring confidence in my abilities

Trainingwise it has been intense partner stuff for now
since joining I have gained us the Desktop Virtualization competency for VMware and the Academic and Government specializations

I have done, 4 VSPs, 2 VTSPs, 2 Specializations for Vmware
3 Quickstarts and started work on my EMCIE
Cisco Nexus partner training and prep for the full UCS training course
AND I have 160 hours more training to complete before end of the year! EEK!

Atmosphere is pretty great here, we come and go as we please for the most part, but still show up, I have a decent workspace with a couple of nice Dell IPS monitors that I requested, free food most days, and a soda/beer fridge every day, and everyone seems pretty cool and close knit, I like that
so looking good, here's to the next two months and my 90 day eval!
