Ok i have a USb wireless adaptor, that when i install it on my computer does not work the error message basically says it does not recognise the device. Now i know the device works as ive tested it on other computers etc and i also know that the usb ports are switched on as my other usb stuff like my bluetooth adaptor and mp3 player work with no hassle

So im stcuk on this. I downloaded the latest drivers and they seemed to nearly work. I mean that when i installed the new drivers instead of getting windows does not recognise this device straight away it went throughy the process of installing it and then decided not to bother.

    Any ideas people

As usual <grin> - versions of windows? Make of USB dongle?

*If* this is Me or XP then it is possible that something else has grabbed the keys - and it will be fun to find what.

What do the docs for the device say about the ordering of installation? On a lot of these devices you *must* install the drivers first before plugging in the device. If you don't then you get the effect you have described.

If its XP roll back to a date before you installed the wireless adaptor.

Install the driver *and then* plug in the wireless adaptor. As hbroomhall says if you plug in before installing the driver then this can cause problems.
