...or just plain henpecked? Sorry for the absence of late but wifey says if Mal gets another IT book out in the next six months then wifey will smash Mals face in with a shovel..eeep. Congrats to all of the passes since my last visit and thanks to the CF team for my prize book, which is now safe and sound in the 'banned till 08' section of my bookcase, sneak peeks during the night are common these days! My next venture will probably be Security+ and I intend to provide another 'laugh as you go' blog for my sins in the S+ forums, permission pending. I'm also considering following up my N+ with MSCDT, not really decided on that one yet though, but ultimately I will make a decision on the MS or Cisco route as my goal, or maybe both, who can tell? Anyways thats enough drivel for now and hello to all the newcomers, tata for today and remember...if Mal can do it-ANYONE can do it!!!:p

That doesn't sound good Mal, but good to see ya!

The trick should be, buy the books but go to a car boot and get covers for the books that wifey likes. Then hide them. But if she stumbles across them, she won't think anything of it!!

Got to be better than a shovel in the face...

Oh, i know, women have an invisible 'beady' third eye and it's pointed continually at their partners - they don't even have to be in the same room to know what your up to. Spooky but true :biggrin

Hey Mal! Glad you are back! Do you have an hour for lunch? If so, maybe you could split some time for the Security+?

Mal buddy - as a married dude also I share your pain.

First you have to do the groundwork for being allowed to study....

    1. More certs = better job = more money ....sad but true, there is strong reasons why we give ourselves computer manual induced phsychosis [sic]. Noting that one's beloved spouse can always do with more to spend, better house, newer car etc etc.

    2. She can have the TV in the evenings, otherwise it is 50-50 split. My wife is not big on TV either so this was not a good bargaining chip for us

    3. Career satisfaction in knowing you are doing the best you can for yourself. This is a surprising strong point for many blokes as they get into their late 30's and into their 40's [I am 45]

It does get harder when the kids turn up but heck if I had to sit and what some TV programmers idea on entertainment I would go stark raving bonkers. The TV is on only for kids TV an hour or less a day.

The kids see me studying IT and my wife studying Music all the time - sets a good standard.

As for costings of training - get your employers to cough up...
