    Hi all,

    Just want to check I have understood the terminologies for this chapter correctly as I am finding it quite a heavy chapter. Have I got the gist of it right below.

    MCC = Northbridge = passes data from RAM and Video Card Ram to CPU

    Southbridge = passes data between CPU (usually via Northbridge) and expansion ports eg/ USB/PCI controllers, Disk drive controllers.

    Chipset = Northbridge & Southbridge

    Thanks
    Matt

    You mean MCH... Yes you are correct North handles communication between processor and video card like AGP and RAM while south takes care of PCI/USB and HDD interfaces the two together are the chipset 8)

    Great thanks -

    Looks like its starting to sink in (slowly !)

    I put MCC because Meyers calls it a Memory Controller Chip in the chapter but looking further ahead I see that MCH is defined in a later chapter.

    Thanks again
