Is it possible to get floppy boot disks e.g win 2k advanced server and stick them all on one memory stick. Will it still work ok if all of the disks are on one memory stick

    Jack,

You refer to two different types of media.... The preferred method for installing an Operating system if you want to be sat at the machine is by using the CD Rom.

Getting USB pen drives to boot is a very difficult art!

Many motherboards just won't do it. Some will, but demand a special layout in the pen-drive. The snag is that this layout seems to be a bit variable.

For what it's worth - I've never been able to get it working on my 1 year old motherboard.

    Harry.

i tried it at work.. and like harry says even some new boards are fussy! looks like you could be stuck with a floppy for a little longer... but be grateful.. its only 3 1/2 inchs... 10+ years ago they were 5 1/14 inches! :biggrin
