Was wondering if someone could clear up a query I have.

If your using a stick of DDR400 you get transfer speeds of 3200 MB per second.

Is this the speed the transfer rate always runs at or a peak transfer rate?

And is this transfer rate dependant on how much memory you have installed? Would 512MB of memory always be transferring data at 3200 MB per second or would you need more RAM to be able to achieve these transfer speeds?

I've got myself confused on the calculations and would appreciate someone clearing this up.

(Hi guys I've solved this query now. I was miscalculating by forgetting that 1MHz = 1,000,000 cycles per second. Been studying too much and fried my brain I think!)

Hardware speeds and cycles and stuff never really was my strong point.

Well done on solving your own problem, and for sharing! :biggrin
