Has anyone come across error code 21 in media center, I have a machine that has this problem everytime you update the guide.

I found out that error 21 is a guide mismatch but nothing on how to correct it, any ideas?

The machine is vista home premium.

Sorry, I for I know this is a duh question in advanced. Why I found the same thing as raff for that code I came across in some readying about the PC having to be hooked up to the tv for the guide to download. So is it?

Also read something about where a guy turn off his norton firewall and use the windows firewall and then it downloaded the guide with no probs. Seems norton antivirus can affect it too. You might want to check that too.

Yeah the pc is connected to the tv and I have tried downloading it without the firewall but still the same.

The odd thing is nothing on the system has been changed and it was working fine then it just stopped. If something had been installed I could understand it but its not

Chances are it has something to do with windows vista. Ihave media center too. Not that i have tried to download anything onto it as yet. But the amount of bugs it ''supposedly'' has is meant to be quite apparent.

If you know the exact time it was working ok, You could always try and do a system restore to a point before this. As downloading something from microsoft could also be conflicting with it.

I've tried doing a system restore, but that still didn't sort it.

I think i'll just have to backup all the files and go back to an old image. Well I can't complain as its the first problem I've had with Vista.

    thanks everyone for the help

True enough, these so called problems with vista are word of mouth. I've not had any problems with my vista premium so far. Unless you try and install software designed for previous OS's such as XP(mainly). Some work fine, and others just seem to keep crashing.

Hope you get it sorted anyway mate.
