    Overview here:

    MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure

With the fact that it has both Server AND Desktop parts to it, I'm not 100% sure where it fits in our current MS Cert Forum setup. But as it has an upgrade route from the MCITP: EDA (680 & 686) I see no reason to ignore it! :)

And I've just realised that during the process, as a bonus, you also earn an MCSA: Windows Server 2012

It means taking a server upgrade exam 70-417 which will be like taking 70-640, 70-642, 70-646 as one exam.

Expect the server upgrade exams are easier than the developer upgrade exams, but it will likely still be pretty tough.

    So, to summarise...

Gaining the new MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure certification can be completed in two ways:

FULL: Which simply means passing all five exams - Three which make up the MCSA: Server 2012 {70-410 / 411 / 412} and then adding 415 & 416

    or

UPGRADE: In which you take the 70-417 "Upgrading Your Skills to MCSA Windows Server 2012" exam in place of the three above and again adding 415 & 416.

This is ONLY available to candidates that have already passed one of the following:

    MCSA: Windows Server 2008
MCITP: Virtualization Administrator on Windows Server 2008 R2
    MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2010
    MCITP: Lync Server Administrator 2010
    MCITP: SharePoint Administrator 2010
MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator on Windows 7

Hope this covers everything - I believe that the MS Press books for 70-415/416 are due to be published in June 2013 October 2013.
