Finally my certifications are looking a little fresher :) I took the 70-646 exam today and passed with 876. Over the last 9 months I have done 70-680, 70-640, 70-642 and 70-646. I wanted something a little more up to date as my MCSA is in 2000 Server. I will keep up to date from now on, I promise

Books used: None! I was expecting the R2 edition book to come out on the 5th but they delayed it! I kept my order open in case I failed but have now changed it to the 70-643 which is out in a few days (hopefully). I have relied on the materials from the 642 and 640 and brought that all together with the exam prep software.

Exam prep software: I used Boson again as they represent the best value for money.

I was a bit nervous going into the exam as I hadn't actually read and specific material on the exam apart from the previous 2 and I nearly freaked out when I saw the amount of information on the first testlet but I calmed down after I saw there were only few questions being asked.

Once again plenty of mentions of R2 and Windows 7 but they could have been 2008 R1 or Vista for what the questions asked. There were some specific R2 technologies thrown into the mix but they were red herrings.

I would like to do the EA but I'm in no rush. I'm going to enjoy a bit of a break and look forward to my wedding in 5 weeks  .

I anyone has any thoughts on the differences between the EA and SA I would like to hear about them.

Congrats on the pass and new cred. Can't really tell you the difference between the SA and EA as I've only done the EA. From what I remember (but then again I did the EA and related exams when they first came out), the MCTS were all technology based and the MCITP for the EA was more on the design rather than what I heard the SA was based on (more operational).

Good luck for the wedding :)

    Congrats Chris - stunning performance.

As a request to any new guys reading, and for my interest - what is your background in IT? Whats your role now? Just so people don't get the impression that not just anyone can knock it off in 9 months!
