MCDST or A+????

Hi every one im bobby and a new member, basically im a scaffolder and have a basic/general knowledge of computers. im looking to change career and getting into the IT industry, i want to do either the MCDST or the A+ course as a start, i would love to know what people thought of the 2 courses and what sort of jobs i could apply for once the qualification/s were attained and what duties would i have, thanks bobbyx

You would be looking at first to second line support after you get some expriance

Welcome Bobby.

I would recommend starting with the A+.
This covers areas, such as hardware and printers, that the MCDST doesn't and it also gives you an introduction to the MCDST material.

A lot of people recommend the Network+ next, before the MCDST. I'm not going to offer any opinion on that because I haven't had a good look through the MCDST material and don't know how much help it would be.

YOu should start with the A+ first especially if you have no experience then move on to the N+ as both will prepare you for the MCDST

 

Start with A+, as it's a good all round grounding, then N+.
Both of which should then help you to get an entry level job in IT.
But dont expect to get paid £££ you may even have to take a pay cut!!
