    Hi everyone,

I've recently started training for my MCDST. Got VTC training videos and CBT nugget training videos to help me. Was wondering if this would be enough material to help me pass my 70-271 and 70-272. Im looking to pursue a career in IT starting of at the bottom. Hopefully get a role as Helpdesk Support/Desktop Support/1st Line support. Got a fair bit knowledge about IT but dont have cert to prove it. Is this the right path for me? Any advice on getting a job for experience? Do I need any other materials to help me pass 70-271 and 70-272? How long will it take to comple the MCDST based on 3hrs of study time 5 days a week?

    Thanks guys!!!

Hi & welcome to CF :)

For me, I alway use at least 1 CBT & 1 book (I have been know to use 3 or 4 books as well as the CBT's) as well as practical experience when studying for an exam.

For the MCDST, I would recommend setting up a virtual environment (or a Physical one) to put to the theory knowledge into practice. This, like any other cert, will help/assist you in getting into IT - however it will not guarantee you a job.

As for how long it will take, that really does depend on you. When I go into full force, studying 1-3 hours a day (every day), I can normally prepare for an exam within 1-2 months, however some exams have taken me approx a year to study for. But again that does depend on the exam in question, your knowledge & practical skills as well as your state of mind.

    Hope this helps :)
