Looking at the hits on this forum, the MCAS does not seem to be a popular exam. However, here is a bit of advise for anyone thinking of taking it on a self-study basis - locate your exam centre first.

These exams are administered by Certiport. Their website offers a number of local exam centres. I rang several of them to be told that they will not provide on a "test only" basis, only to those that have used their study courses. I contacted Certiport who have helped me find someone. The whole process seemed a lot easier with Pearson Vue and the Comptia exam.

I live in Cheshire and have to travel to Liverpool to take MCAS exams. I was told they were the nearest, Certiport need to be getting more test centres in their camp!

Certiport is slightly different to Prometric & Vue. Unlike Prometric & Vue which are only testing centres, Certiport are also training centres as well. Hence is easier for Prometric & Vue, as they do not show private exam centres, whereas Certiport just displays all.

They do indeed, however unlike Prometric & Vue who have no set-up or annual fees (apart from the minimum requirement for their testing software, there is a requirement for Certiport test centres to buy X amount of vouchers per year. It's not Certiports fault, the other 2 big boys generate a very big chunk of revenue from the exams themselves, whereas Certiport don't.

If you want/need a Certiport in your local area, try contacting your local schools/colleges to see if they would be willing to become one.

I'm not sure of the exact details, but it looks as if Certiport may be on the way out or changing.

Prodigy is a Certiport Solutions Provider, hence why/how they can offer training and the MCAS exams :)

+1000000000 for the advice - tell me about it!

I bought the learning material from MS Press, videoes from CBT Nuggets, and practice exam from Certiport. I aced the practice exam, and decided it was time to take the MCAS exam. I've taken several MOS-certifications many years ago (2000), at that time there was plenty of Certiport testing centers, so I never considered it as a problem.

However, this time it was not that easy. I went to Certiports homepage and used "Find a testing center". There was only a few centers listed for my country. They were all far away from where I live, but manageable to get there by train. So I called them, finding out that they were not a Certiport testing center anymore. I called another center; same for them.

Conclusion: There are no longer a testing center in my country!

Microsoft REALLY have to do something about the availability of Certiports centers - this is just a joke.
