Low level formatting tools for Toshiba MK3021GAS

    I've been asked to download a Low level formatting tool for a Toshiba MK3021GAS hard drive in a laptop but not getting very far. Any ideas?

    You cannot actualy low-level format any recent drive. Only the factory will do this.

    Why does this person want to do it?

    I can think of a couple of possibilities.....

    1) Delete sensitive info - then google 'drive scrubber'. - These are not drive model specific.

    2) Reload the OS - use the recovery disks that came with the laptop.

    For many people a proper format is the same thing as a low-level format. If this is the case here then uncheck the 'quick format' box.

    Active Disk just make sure you want to low level format cause no turning back after this!

    Don't know that one - but it looks good.

    Note that this is a drive scrubber - not a 'low-level formatter'. Which doesn't, in my view, detract from it's power.

    Without disassembling the drive, or sending it to Tosh, I would agree!

    The free version is, I am sure, ample.
    They also sell a version which complies to some German standard which i believe writes to the disc five times over.
