Although I didn't hear the official party line from PC vendors or MS itself, I was expecting something like this for a while. There are too many people/companies interested in XP (and not Vista) for XP to just be shelved.

It's not exactly a loophole... it's clearly stated in Microsoft's licensing.

That said... if Microsoft didn't want that to happen... they should have shut that "loophole". ;)

Kudos to Microsoft for allowing it, if that was their intention. People will continue to buy XP for at least a couple more years, I'm guessing.

I hope they do. As it stands now I only have one vista machine to contend with when I have to work on family or friends computers. Would really like to keep it that way for as long as possable. Does that make me a terriable tech?:biggrin

Not at all. I have a copy of Vista Ultimate on my shelf at home... and when I recently I did a clean install on my box, I chose to install XP... mostly due to the increase in gaming speed with XP over Vista.
