London skyline in 2012

    'The City' refers to the city of london, as in the financial centre, the same as wall st in america.

    Remember, that most of those new high-rises are in the areas that already have high-rises, so wont be so noticeable.

    What always lets them down is when the designs & plans get watered down, so what would have been interesting & exciting, just becomes another glass tower.

    Actually the City is famous for having very few high rises, it was only in recent years that the corporation of London started to reverse its policy after the alarming rate at which firms (and this money) was moving out to the likes of docklands

    hence why in the last 5 years we have seen a mass of large buildings crop up in the city, and the trend is set to continue

    there are still regulations on obstructing the view of st pauls dome from various points in London though, limiting the areas in which larger buildings can be constructed, and the foundation London is built on severely hampers huge buildings even with modern building practices

    A couple of years ago i was working at the gherkin(rhymes!) right at the top.I was there all day and well into the night.
    Ive got to say the the view of the city as the sun set was stunning.Kicking myself to this day for not having my camera on me.
