Linux IRC Server

    Does anyone know any free IRC server software for Linux. that is compatible with CentOS 4.4.

    There are quite a few that should run. Unless you are intending to handle a huge number of clients I would have thought that a stock Linux wouldn't be a problem.

    I'd start with the pointers here as there are many protocol differences depending on the 'net' you intend to join.

    One that is 'out of the box', without doing major changes to things like the TCP/IP stack and recompiling the kernel.

    ircd-ratbox, ultimateircd, unreal. There is actually loads, used to run a IRC server back in the day.
