Linux help

    hi... I av jus started to learn linux by purchasing a book on it. i have installed fedora core 3 n i cant figure out how to install my usb modem. any help please its an alcatel speedtouch modem ( the green ones )

    First question - Do you have Linux Drivers for the Modem? :blink

    You will need these before you do anything more.

    i have the cd for it i dont know if you can use that as im a complete begginer to linux otherwise how and where do i get the drivers for it ??

    On the CD does it have a folder saying Linux on it? This is where I would expect to find them.

    If the CD doesn't have them have a look at the Alcatel website to see if there are Linux drivers for you specific model.

    A quick google with the search string "alcatel speedtouch Linux driver" produced this which may be what you want.

    I got that too! but as I didn't know the exact model number I didn't want to say!!! :biggrin
