Well its official, I suck at Microsoft exams. Just came out with a 634 i'm so upset, I just don't know what i'm going to do any more.
My official answer is give up!! Microsoft you've got the better of me! I'm so annoyed with myself, time for a few beers, i'm currently eating cake!!. Good luck everyone it looks like you'll need it, Microsoft wants your money!!

You don't suck, Loopy. 634 is almost there! I bet you're just getting too tense over this one - take a break from it and try another for a bit. Why not have a crack at the MCSDT to boost your confidence...?

Tough luck, Loopy. If it's any consolation, those few times I've taken MS exams, I've not passed, either. Funny coz I can pass CompTIA exams and the CCNA. Maybe as Jamin says, it's time for a switch. Take some time to lick your wounds and let the sting fade, then decide which direction you want to take next. Good luck, mate. :)

Yep, I feel better today actually, everyone keeps telling me I should have another go at it, I don't know I think i'll give it a break until the winter then i'll be stuck inside and have time to do it. I'm going to have a go at the MCDST next I think I might even book my first exam for 2 weeks time after i've had a few days off, fingers crossed i'll be able to do those. Thanks for the support guys. :biggrin

Loopy just take a step back for a month or two then with a fresh mind give it another go. Don't burn yourself out like I did. I had all these certs spinning around in my mind of what I want to do and was trying to cram them all in in the shortest space of time which aint a good idea. Loopy also did you take advantage of Microsoft's free retake offer?

Sometimes studies for another exam will help you get a fresh perspective on this one. I personally have a pattern of failing every other exam that I take. I just have to schedule less expensive exams for the times I am due to fail... :p

I am really sorry that you did not pass this time, but do not give up all together, just try some other exams in topics you are more familiar with, and also try to see if you can get more hands on practice with the topics you are not as sure of. Some of these tests just take time and practice to master. You can do it! And never take it out on yourself! If IT were easy, everyone would be doing it! [IMG]

Loopy, It must be gutting to get a fail on the same exam so many times! I took 290 back in July and failed with just 595! I had four simulation questions out of the total of 44.

I've heard it said that the sim questions count quite heavily in terms of marks and so these can easily be the difference between a pass and a fail. When got the printout at the end of the test which shows how you rated on the various exam objectives, disaster recovery (ironically) seemed to the the one that let me down. In my test there were quite a few qus on Terminal Services but nothing on disk management.

Had my 2nd go at 70-290 today and passed.. But only just reaching the pass mark. Still a pass is a pass.

I gave up my entire bank holiday yesterday to make sure I was as ready as I could be. It's very difficult to offer advice on this one other than just to know your stuff as well as you can. I don't remember any of the questions I got today as being the same as for my first attempt. The simulations were certainly all different. One was on IIS and required me to create a website and disable anon access and set network bandwidth.

Anyhow if you haven't retaken and passed yet Loopy and if you need further advice don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks for that everyone! Had a major headache when I came out. I often wonder whether by jumping straight to Win 2k3 from NT4 is making it harder for me.

Anyway I'm raring to go now for 70-291 which seems more involved in the 'nuts and bolts' of networking such as TCP/IP and DNS.

Four months down the line and I'm still enjoying it. Must be something wrong with me! :)

I have just returned to college, and the books we are using is a series I had not heard of before from Thompson-Prometric Course Technology. A friend who used to teach said they were good and had very little fluff in them. They used to only be available if you went to a college, but in this day and age, I was able to get the books online at Amazon

Hopefully that is the same publisher in the UK. The books are very expensive, since college textbooks are always overpriced, but they do come with a CD that has practice questions from MeasureUp!

I have just started using these books, so time will tell if they are good or not, but they are supposed to cover all of the objectives that are on the test. Good luck!
