Working on a customer laptop at the moment which doesnt detect the HDD anymore.

So tried the HDD in another lappie and that picked it up and loaded the operating system fine.

So phoned laptopspares.co.uk to find out if its possibly an adaptor thats replaceable (asked them as i dont want the hassle of opening it up, not just yet anyways) or whether the whole motherboard needs replaced.

They seem to be taking forever to get back to me so i thought someone on here might have had some experience on this already.

LOL. Sorry, d. I was just thinking about the dutch language lesson you gave in another thread. Combined with this one, it struck me funny. :D

sounds like the board has gone to me mate.

Is there any BIOS configuration? Most new ones now have almost nothing...

What you mean by Bios configuration mate?

Yeah, the board seemed the most obvious to me too but i've done some googling and it seems there is a HDD adaptor board playing middle man to the HDD and the system board.
If its replaceable, that could be the first step.

    heh thanks mate.
But what i meant to say was why he was asking about the bios?

If it was to check the boot order or wether or not the BIOS was actually picking up the HDD, then its not.

If you have something else in mind though, let me know :)
