I'm not putting this in the humor forum because it happens to be true. Here's the link:

yes you've been able to buy them for years, seen them all the time at country fares, along with other scifi replica weapons. I wonder if the guy has been training to use the batleth! "start TOS kirk and spock panicy fighting music".

Yep I have seen them too.

About three years ago in a village called armathwaite (about 5 miles from me) a guy went nuts he had one strapped to his back and a katana in each hand. He was surrounded by armed cops until he gave up.

    Is it really Klingon though?

Are they actually making an assumption there?
    Not very good journalism.

Maybe it should say 'a sword resembling one of Kilngon manufacture from the fictional universe of Star Trek'.
That's the only way it would get on Wikipedia.

I'd like to think the guy was some kind of martial arts expert though.
You wouldn't mind so much if he did a two minute display in a well oiled performance which ended with him sitting on your chest ready to be-head you.

You'd give him the money with a grudging round of applause.

On the other hand - if he just strolls in and says 'give me the cash, or I'll poke you in the eye with this. It's sharp.' It's not really the same.

The shopkeepers should stand their ground and insist that he does a little dance and then stands there with his eyes bulging a bit, roars really loudly and then says something beginning with 'If you were any other man I would...'

    It's all about showmanship.
