I've just returned from the testing center with a big relieve as I PASSED but just by the nick of the teeth. I must have received about six simulations, actually my first question was a sim. WoW! is all I can say again.

In terms of study material usefulness see below:

    1. MS Press book - training kit, RS2, 2006 and to be honest this is all that's needed to pass the exam but make sure you read the book inside out and practice the labs. Another note, don't even bother with the readiness review practice test questions on the CD-Rom a waste of precious time.

    2. I also setup a lab on my Dell PowerEdge 2500 machine with 3 ultra scsi hard disk running win ser2003 enterprise version as a domain controller and AD. I also setup one other member server using VMWare server to carry out the labs in the MS press book. This was very useful and helpful plus been playing with servers at work too.

3.Transcender - was not very useful for this exam but still maybe use it towards the end of your intensive book study. To be honest you might be better of sticking with the MS press book as the questions at the end of each chapter were very good and an eye opener for the real exam.

4.Testout - this was okay but does not reason the way MS reasons in terms of their answers to questions or questioning.

Well, good luck to all those wanting to sit this exam and lastly it is by no means a walk in the park as if I'd failed I would not have been surprised. Well done MS, for shaping questions to weed out brain dumpers:)

    Congrats!

Ah, how I wish that were true. Braindumps are just as strong as they ever were. In fact, with simulations, all braindumps have to do is say, "Know how to do ONLY these 6 things, and here are the steps to do them."

That's very true, but am sure it would still be a task for the brain dumpers as am sure there's hundreds of different type scenario questions they'd have to master. Still kinda of funny though:)

Unfortunately, there aren't. The pool of simulation questions just isn't that big... they take a lot of time and money to develop, so there aren't many of them on each exam. Even the multiple-choice scenarios are somewhat difficult and time-consuming to develop.

The best tool we have against braindumping is for people like you and me to tell people about the dangers and pitfalls of braindumps. And despite our efforts, some people are still going to want to cheat. :(

Congrats on the pass mate. :biggrin

In regard to sims I dont think there are that many in the pool of questions, when I took the 70-291 two of the same sims came up again, I actually noticed a mistake I made the first time round as well. :biggrin

im wondering did you use virtual pc to set up a practice environment? ive used virtual pc with server '03, going to get to grips with server '08 soon, and win xp pro in domain enviro with AD.
I tried running RIP after setting up RIS on the server on a disk 1. however I kept getting error messages, and it didnt complete. Is it possible to do this in a Virtual PC environ't?

Im sure i've managed to get the pxe boot to work in the psuedo bios of virtual pc before, but I suppose it depends on the network card. if you are using virtual pc with a wifi NIC then it wont work. What error did you get.

I specified the 'local' card as the networking option for my virtual machine.
it was saying it couldnt find a set of files, and this was for a whole load of files, eventually i had to cancel it because it was a recurring error.
