Passed with a 885. Easiest I've done so far, was only 40 questions.
Well now the hard stuff begins... 290 here I come.

    Thanks!
The only way I'm able to start studying is if I book my exam in advance... I'm wondering how much time I'll need for the 290. I've been working as a corporate support admin for the last 7 months, altough I was pretty unqualified for the position when I first started. It's been all trial by fire but I feel I've learned a decent amount.

So I wonder if 2 months will be enough, I already have the giant MS Press book.

No reason why not mate, I took around 3 months for the 70-290.

I thought the book was quite small in comparison to the 70-270 one. :biggrin

LOL oh man... well for the 270 I went with a Sybex/Nugget combo, which wasn't the smartest thing to do as I was missing quite a bit of specifics that luckily the trascender practice exams pointed out to me.

So I've learned from that and will use MS press as my main book of study from now on.
Also your MSCE review post also proved to me that MS press no matter how dry and boring, is indeed the way to go.
    So thank you for that!

No problem mate. I did use some additional books during my MCSE studies (such as the TCP\IP guide) but I always used the MS book as main reference book for each exam. You can get some additional materials from Technet and also configuring servers in a lab environment helps as well.

Best of luck for the 70-290. 8)

Always use more than one book. No single book will cover everything or explain things well enough so you understand things completely. So get MS Press *and* Sybex. They usually work well together.

    Congrats!

TCP\IP guide... One of our support reps from checkpoint who helped deploy our new firewalls also recommended that book, I'll definitely pick it up as well.

Will do! Sybex does seem like really good recap books as the reading is easier and faster than the MS Press.
    Thanks!
