Just passed 271!! First Cert

Got my first Cert today and passed 271 - I was so pleased with myself!!

I studied for around two weeks, and had the exam this afternoon. I was sweating the whole way through - but a lot of the stuff that come up was covered in the book I read luckily, and their mini test exams and prep exams were pretty close too, so full marks to them.

I managed to do a transcender this morning, and it was looking bad - and now, after doing the actual real test, I am of the opinion that the transcenders are actually tougher than the REAL exam! (in this case)....

I finished in 1:10 and got a 949....very happy chappy.

It was the ExamCram - Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a Windows Desktop Operating System Platform: Exam 70-271 (Exam Cram 2) with 2 Full Prac Exams, 8 mini exams, and a MeasureUp CD full of questions. I didnt think much of the book whilst reading it if I am honest - but it obviously did the trick.

 

Sure am, just got the free download from cramsession of their mini study guide and it all looks pretty straight forward stuff. Unsure whether it warrants purchasing a book though. A mate of mine who has done it said the exams is basically common "computing" sense for the 272 - anyone confirm?

Perhaps - I have been working on/around XP for a few years, so its hard to say how much of it was "deep ingrained" memory coming to the surface, and how much of it come out of the book. I have seen various other ExamCram books get a right slating by others.

The only part I can commend from them is the MeasureUp CD and their printed exam prep and what I think they refer to as "cheat sheet" i.e. list of things to remember on a piece of card you should read just before you go through the door...I didnt use that though, but it seemed a good idea.
