    Hello you lot :)

IO've been off my Comp studying for a bit because I'm branching out into my main love, reality based self defence and martial arts. I just got licensed to teach again (I didn't renew the last one as I just went back into training) and I'm starting up lessons again.

I was wondering if you all could cast a discerning eye over the web site I put together using the MSN 'build your own website' thingy. I was a very finicky program but after a few false starts I managed. Please take a look.

Also if anyone knows how to get yourself noticed on a search engine please tell me how.

    there's the link. Thanks

Seems like a good site, it's easy to manouver and isn't clogged up with crap :)

I am not sure how you get yourself noticed on a search engine.

Well I like the feel of it. The grundge look is in right now. To get on search engines, has to do with your meta tags and search engine spiders. Make sure you allow spiders to craw your site or atleast the homepage. Plus looking at your code on the homepage and your meta tags, you don't have anything in there for Karate or Tae Kwon Do. You do not specifiy exactly what you are teaching beyond self defense. If it was on the homepage it would help. You could fit it into this paragrah somewhere.

You could reword it to something like

"Wansbeck aim is to provide top quality self defence lessons in Karate and Tae Kwon Do, so that you the student, are capable of avoiding or if necessary, dealing with attacks."

I also changed the first word in your sentance because "its" just does not sound right to me. But I guess that is just a personal perfence. I noticed your menu on the left side does not carry though to the gallery, about, or instructor page. It really should just to make things as easy as you can for your readers. I think you did a great job!

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't specify what martial arts I derived it from purely because the system I use didn't come from a traditional system, though I do have a karate background and a very brief Tae Kwon Do background they don't really feature. I got taught SD in that context from some of the guys on the gallery page , its not something I converted from one of my other arts.

I'll look at the wording though

Although your style is not karate or tae kwon do, these are popular and well known martial arts, I do no martial arts at all, if I wanted to look up local training to teach my self a bit of sd, i would be searching one of these more popular terms and im sure that would be the case for most other newbies. By including them in your META tags your not professing to teach them but people who are searching them terms because thats all they're familiar with are more likely to stumble upon your site and services.

Also i noticed on the 'about' page the following
Do you mean to put 'life'?

I think this is a good idea, with todays disrespectful world im sure a lot of people would be interested in learning skills that enable them to diffuse a threatening situation without having to resort to carrying weapons or anything. I think a lot of these people also may not want to do the full karate or such like route so this may potentially be a winner. Good luck.
Also no disrespect but for some reason it has just made think of the police academy film where they are all learning self defence
