This exam is a beast. Should be renamed simply DNS as that is what most of the questions were about.

Back to the books. Damn this has really got me down

I think they actually do call this exam the beast. I've heard like you've found out that it's very DNS focused. I didn't think there was that much to DNS until I started doing this exam.

Anyways I'm sure you will crack it next time around.

    Cheers for that.

I would say that 70% of my exam was DNS, the rest was made up of WSUS (2 - 3 questions), RRAS (2 questions) DHCP (about 4 questions) and IP addressing (again about 2-3 questions)

I only had one simulation type question but loads of more then one answer questions

Sorry about the exam bodie, it is very tough. Your best bet is to get as much hands on experience of DNS servers as you can really.

It sounds like you got a difficult exam as I personally like the sims as even if I don't know how to do something then in a sim I can usually find my way around.

I always wondered... how are those questions graded? do you get partial credit?

Sorry if my question is off topic...

Supposedly, there is no partial credit. However, Microsoft will neither confirm nor deny that.

    Hi

I think I had 3 or 4 simulation questions and some drag and drop.

Sorry you did not pass, what was your score. I just passed this by the skin of my teeth.

    My score was 700 :)

Doesn’t matter, a pass is a pass and fail is a fail. :biggrin

Time to pick yourself up and get back to studying, if DNS is your weak point then start there.

The Sybex 70-291 book came today so I've started to go through that. At the moment I prefer it to the MSPress book but I can see that I really need both books.

Taking the exam and failing is not necessarily a bad thing. It just proves that more study time is need and it does point out the areas that you need to go over again. I will be doing alot more messing about on my VM setup this time as well.
