Joining Windows 98 to a Domain ?

    Try removing the log onto the domain option in 'Client for Microsoft Networks' - then add again and try logging onto the domain.

    OK I have turned that off cleared the domain name. Deleted the *.pwl restarted the machine. It came up to the desktop. Re added the domain name and check box. Restarted again..

    Still no domain server available to validate your password.

    Also tried net use from command prompt. No available resources for command.

    No computer account.. The user account is good in ad though.
    I know this is a strange happening. I have other machines in 98 using the same setup with different user accounts and even those won't work on this machine.
    I have tried also those accounts with no luck. I have Installed ie 6.0 in am attempt to update the system as I have read in other forums as well.
    I have even giwn it a fixed up address other then the one assigned by dhcp. And still will not login to domain .

    Anything in the event logs in the DC?

    Can't get to them.. Do not have enterprise level access.

    Would be good to see if anything is getting logged. Would at least tell you if there is an authentication attempt.

    Try adding the domain controller name and FQDN on the domain controller to the hosts file.
